Industry seeks urgent Bloom in technical edu to meet its requirements

Bowing to pressure from industry, the technical education department has decided to introduce courses that would match the industry's requirements.

For the first time in India, an outcome-based education (OBE) is being introduced for polytechnic courses (35 diploma programmes affiliated to Board of Technical education) from July.

Interestingly, the OBE is based on Bloom's taxonomy emphasising the six levels of learning - knowledge, understanding, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation along with the outcomes related to graduate attributes.

According to higher education principal secretary Bharat Lal Meena, the OBE curricula means channelising everything in the educational system to enable the student to successfully deliver at the end of the learning experience in the professional domain. For complete and original post see here
